Festive Weekend

It all started around Wednesday. I was going through some of the Midian City Medical Center's older files from its mainland affiliates. As the hospital is now run by Ashagi, the majority of World Union medical records transferred to the facility would need to be send back to the mainland. It's amongst these miscellaneous files that I noticed one on Tanner.

The description matched, list of symptoms and mental problems. It may have been brought to the hospital after a visit, but what struck me was the date. His birthday was on Friday, the day before my wedding. Of course I wanted to do something nice for the little redhead. He's since being a respected medic in his own right, though he's still learning to deal with his fears and emotions. As Ayr put it in a text to the pack, Tanner does a lot around the Den, but hardly gets the thanks he deserves.

Party time!

We threw Tanner a rather late night surprise fling in the den. Fauna, Gage, Brekka, newly returned Mitka, and little Arwen to lure her uncle to the Den. He had a few surprises for us as well.

Spots! Tanner turned Bengal on us!

Okay, the spots were tattooed and the tail was dyed.
But it was in honor of his hybrid mother.

Everyone ate and drank and had a good amount for fun before the night was up. A constant question was raised with me however...."Are you nervous at all?"

How to answer that? I'm nervous sure that things go well and without a hitch, but am I really calm about the whole thing? Marriage is a commitment to dedicate one's loyalty to their would be spouse. The signal to the world that "Yes! This is my mate!" My doubts and fears about just who Adagio is and what she's capable of do scare me...but not enough to keep me from making that proclamation for all to hear.

And then came the day of reckoning.
Our wedding day.

I don't think I've ever run so many times up and down the city, or ANY city for that matter, in my entire life. Decorations had to be placed. The food needed warming. Drinks needed to be stocked.

Dresses for me and the flower girl were good to go. I was just happy the flowers hadn't died yet...
She looks adorable.
Even more so, her mother Fluffy and Lily made an appearance.

Our friends and families amongst the audience

Now that's a production

It was indeed. But all the work and preparation paid off. I couldn't think of a better way to showcase such an important date in our lives, and the support of our loved ones certainly counts as a driving point to getting this far. A wedding where those important people surround us - that's all we wanted. Not biblical reform. Not anything grand or revolutionary.

Just an evening like this.

Why's Ayr hanging off to the side there?
Emotional stuff not his cup of tea?

I don't think that's it. I was nervous about asking Ayr to be my official witness on the license, but moreover that he be present at the ceremony. He constantly insists that he's been the devil incarnate for thousands of years, but he's also helped many of us out from the streets. He doesn't like to admit it, but he deserves thanks just as much as Tanner does.

Doing what he feels he should from afar to protect our pack. It seemed almost appropriate that he observed the ceremony from a distance, armed to the teeth mind you, while everyone else sat around the altar.

The surrogate father for us all.

8:00 PM....Party Time.
I booked the TZ for our reception. It was a last minute reservation, being only a week's notice. But the staff there was wonderful and took care of us. The music was great thanks to Kia. Part of me was glad she was the only Ashagi employee present to see me get drunk off my ass and dance more loosely. Even Adagio was dancing. Not ballet mind mind you, but simple, free, and getting down to techno.

I was too drunk to get a picture of that.

...probably for the best.

Everyone seems to be letting their hair out tonight...Even the birthday boy. Even though I didn't think he'd do it, Tanner pulled off some live entertainment in the form of exotic dancing.

The trio included himself and two women he introduced as
Izaria and Fu.
The two were also planning their wedding.

January is the June, bitches.

It was a splendid night, and I don't think we would have wanted it any other way. But the moment that sealed it for me. The one that washed any doubt from my mind that this was the right thing to do came while we were cleaning up.

Adagio thought it best to exchange necklaces rather than rings, hers being the Christmas gift I'd given her just last month. Just as we were getting ready to leave, our eyes catch each other. Namely I noticed the necklace barley under her sweater cowl. She had been saying something to me, but I'm not sure if I responded right away. Just a casual "Yeah...okay...see you back at home..." left my lips.

That's when I realized I was looking at Adagio C. Dubois now, my wife. Those few seconds reminded me that I do love this woman, all quirks, powers, and connections aside. I'd fight for her just as much as my family. The fact she had chosen to take my family name was her proclamation in my eyes. More than what a ring or piece of jewelry could say...taking my surname rather than her own or a variation of that said that she was mine. She'd be a part of my life.

...now to plan the honeymoon.
